Royce Spencer Clayton (born January 2 1970 in Burbank, California) is a shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds. He is 6'0 and weighs 200 lbs. He bats right and throws right. He made his major league debut on September 9, 1991.

Often referred to as Royce "Playa' Hatin'" Clayton, the nickname was originated due to Clayton's affinity for extra base hits. Totaling 480 for his career as of 2005, Clayton truly does enjoy extra base hits. Pitchers often believe that Clayton, with his incredibly sweet stroke, is intentionally hating on them. Clayton denies that he is intentionally hating though, claiming that is what he has to do.
