Here in The Thinking Chair, it's appropriate -- indeed, mandated -- to do some pensive reflection from time to time. There's a lot to love about sports, fantasy sports, and writing about fantasy sports. I'm no complainer. (OK, except I'm totally a complainer. But not about this.) But sometimes you get ahead of yourself when you commit something to print.

We at Rototimes.com have a tool called the Player Rater, and each week I discussed the top-50 fantasy baseball players based upon the rankings provided by this tool using the following parameters: a 12-team mixed league using standard 5x5 scoring with 14 hitters, nine pitchers and a $260 salary cap.

Picking the possible breakout players who everyone else passes on is an important skill in fantasy hoops. This year is no different -- the ability to pinpoint and find those late round gems gives you an advantage over your competition and will give you a great chance at bringing home the championship. Last year, it was Hedo Turkoglu. The season before that, it was Kevin Martin. Owners who scooped up those guys very likely won your league championship. Or maybe it was you who nabbed them. Regardless, it's a totally different season, and there is a new set of players ready to explode onto the scene. Who will it be this year?
