Jeffrey Scott George (Born December 8, 1967 in Indianapolis, Indiana) is a former American football player and was a quarterback in the National Football League. He was the first overall pick of the 1990 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Jeff also played for the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears.

George attended Warren Central High School and the University of Illinois.

College career

George always had a very strong arm, and it seemed that he was destined for NFL stardom. Yet, a pattern of controversy followed him throughout his career, even as far back as college. He transferred after a year at Purdue because the coach who recruited him was fired, and the school didn't consult him about a successor. He subsequently committed to the University of Miami, but he backed out after telling coach Jimmy Johnson he would come only if he got a single room in the team dormitory. The schoolboy legend from Indianapolis leaving the home-state school and becoming a Fighting Illini. And then he left Illinois a year early for the NFL, angering his coaches.
